Tekken 7 is giving fans a sweet treat as Bandai Namco adds four new characters to complete a pool of 20 fighters in the upcoming title, plus more new personalities to come as the game progresses with updates soon as promised.
Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken 7's director, shared to a Japanese games website about the additional characters in the latest title gradually revealed since December 2014. Harada promises the four new characters will be much different from the existing ones.
Shaheen is the first Arabian character who hails from Saudi Arabia. Katarina Alves comes from Brazil and is the first female Brazilian fighter in the game. Claudio Serafino is also the first Italian character. Lucky Chloe's nationality remains secret for now.
Harada has shared more details about Claudio Serafino as he is the first Italian in the series whose story and setting will be very significant. Harada furthers that Tekken 7 needs the existence of Claudio to stand against the power of the Devil.
"We originally had plans to have a setting with an organization that was put together to defeat the Devil, but that eventually turned into the character of Claudio," said Harada.
This statement confirms rumors that indeed Jin Kazama and his antagonist counterpart Devil Jin are coming back. His last stint still centered on his struggle to get away from the evil inside him. Jin previously appeared in Tekken 3, 4, 5, 6, Dark Resurrection, and 3D: Prime Edition. He was cut from the previous installment's pool of 20 fighters.
The director furthered that Bandai Namco has no intentions of ditching some characters. In fact, they are working on more to add in the game through updates along the way.
