Sia Soars Music, Song Charts: Is Madonna Affected after Anti-Pop Star Arises?

By

Only a handful of pop stars elicit an emotional response from bigwigs in the music industry and move on to chart their own success. Sia Furler is one singing sensation who did exactly that after years of waiting in the sidelines and not seeing her solo singing career take off in a big way.

Not that her musical talent had gone unnoticed years ago. Peaking in the Billboard 200 charts is nothing new to her. Her album Some People Have Real Problems drew attention, and she bagged the Best Music DVD award at the 2008 ARIA Music Awards. She also garnered nominations from the same body in the succeeding years. Fast forward to 2015 - Sia now has two songs that continue to climb the Hot 100 Chart.

At the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, Sia showed that her time to shine has definitely come. She performed on the same stage where pop superstars Madonna, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Rihanna and other revered artists showcased their musicality. Together with young and talented dancer Maddie Ziegler and comedienne KristenWiig, Sia had audiences transfixed by performing "Chandelier" on a set creatively designed like an apartment.

The 39-year-old Aussie rose to fame in a slow and steady manner. She's known in the entertainment scene for her reclusive anti-pop stance and manner of resisting Hollywood fanfare and glare.

Sia has collaborated with countless superstars over the years. She is the creative force behind many hit songs, including "Titanium" and Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself. Years ago, she made a decisive move to halt her own solo singing career and work her magic writing songs for established artists, many of them Hollywood A-listers. Her writing repertoire includes Rihanna's "Diamonds" and Britney Spears' "Perfume" which was included in Britney's eighth studio album, "Britney Jean." She also co-wrote "Pretty Hurts" with Beyoncé and Ammo; and "Double Rainbow" with Kary Perry.

Sia has taken tried-and-tested approaches, like Madonna's marketing savviness. The Queen of Pop has had her share of a crazy, busy schedule, especially as she led the new music releases this March, but expect the Aussie songwriter-singer to bask in her own triumphs, albeit in a subtle, un-Hollywood manner.
