Tech company NVidia has earlier revealed its plans to launch its NVidia Shield gaming console that can be connected to a television. That being said, it seems that the Xbox and PlayStation consoles would have to make room for another competitor. To make things more interesting, the company was also reported to be working on the next-generation NVIDIA Shield portable game console.
There are no official details on its under-the-hood specifications. However, it is said that NVidia’s new toy wouldn’t look very different from its predecessor. It could still have its Xbox-style game controller with a foldable 5-inch display, and could possibly run on a Tegra X1 processor. The said CPU could be paired with 3 gigabytes of RAM, and 4K output support. This means mean that the display could have a 1080p resolution, which is definitely a lot better compared to the 720p resolution of the previous release.
In addition, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth certification sites indicate that the next-generation NVIDIA Shield portable game console should have better connectivity features. That means the new device will support faster Wi-Fi networks than the previous Shield consoles, supports the latest Bluetooth standards, and it runs a newer NVIDIA firmware version. The device was also reported to run Android Lollipop operating system
NVidia is well known for manufacturing graphics hardware and software for various computer systems. With the company’s success on what they do (still doing so today), it aims to reach out more gamers with the release of its first SHield devices back in 2013. As a matter of fact, its introduction alone has been a big surprise to gamers as well as tech enthusiasts.
The next-generation NVIDIA Shield portable game console is expected to arrive any time between July and August. However, NVidia would still have to give its official announcements before it hits the shelves later this year.
