Rafael Nadal Loses Battle Against Roger Federer

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are two of the biggest tennis players of this generation. It is no wonder how viewers and critics are anticipating as to which of the two players will become the all-time Grand Slam champion.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are two of the biggest competitors in the field of tennis. Despite countless reports betting on which side will win the title, it looks like Federer has lost his number one opponent.

According to NY Times, Rafael Nadal has been eliminated in the third round of the Miami Open in Florida. Nadal has been ousted by Fernando Verdasco in a score of 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

Now that Nadal is falling behind Federer, critics and avid viewers are raving about Federer's chances of winning the title.

Even American tennis legend Pete Sampras has expressed admiration over Federer. In an interview with Randy Walker of World Tennis Magazine, Sampras said that Federer was the "most complete player we've ever seen."

Sampras reiterated that Federer was the only player to have won on all surfaces and noted that Federer was the complete package.

"He's tough. He moves well. He's got a big game. He's got a huge forehand," Sampras said.

Sampras previously spoke highly about Federer and said that fans should let the numbers do the talking.

"You have to say he's the greatest we've seen," he added.

At the age of 33, Federer has already won his 17th major singles title at the 2013 Australian Open.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova thinks otherwise, though. In an interview with Tennis World USA, Navratilova believes that Federer will always come behind Nadal. "But it also had to be said that Roger is probably the greatest clay court player of all time right after Rafael Nadal," Navratilova said.

Nadal has suffered from a number of injuries during the entire season. Nadal was even reported to have suffered from a fall during practice, which led others to speculate that Nadal will be withdrawing from the Miami Open.
