While the leadup to the launch of "The Witcher 3" has been mainly about its vast and beautiful world, CD Projekt Red's CEO says it's the compelling story people will find most intriguing about the game. Marcin Iwinski, the CEO, said the game will touch more on the emotions of players than any of the other like-minded games that have come before it, according to the New York Daily News.
"We want people to feel really emotional about our game. That they did something special. Sometimes, that they'd like to load the game from a few hours ago, that they're really not happy about their decision, that they morally feel bad about it," said Iwinski.
He said that while the game does indeed boast a world with almost boundless things to explore and see, the focus of the game will remain on the story.
Iwinski wants players to truly think about and weight the decisions they make carefully, for one could drastically alter the rest of the game and also impact which of the 30 different endings they may receive.
He wants "The Witcher 3" to be the first truly narrative-driven open-world game, and while the emphasis on creating an all-encompassing storyline is welcome, the game has not skimped out on fleshing out its own world.
According to level designer Miles Tost, some of the dungeons inside the game will take hours to explore simply because of their size. Tost also said that these cavernous dungeons are also handcrafted masterpieces from the game's artists, according to Gameranx.
As for how these handcrafted dungeons may look, CD Projekt Red said the upcoming Direct X12 upgrade for the Xbox One is unlikely to affect or enhance the games current visuals, according to IGN.
There's still plenty to marvel at inside the game, and the promise of a unique story-driven experience is a worthy reason to stay tuned.
"The Witcher 3" will be launched on May 19 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
