Terrence Howard's ex-wife Michelle Ghent wants a chunk of his "Empire" money. Howard's second ex-wife Michelle Ghent is asking the court for huge cut on his paycheck as part of their earlier settlement, according to TMZ reports.
The 46-year-old actor had previously claimed that he could not pay Ghent's demands of $500k in legal fees and spousal support, as he was only making a little over $5k a month. He also said that his first wife Lori McCommas gets the majority of his money.
However, after the success of "Empire", Howard is now earning $125k per episode, and Michelle wants what a slice of Howard's "Empire" money. Ghent is already supposed to receive $5,800 per month from her ex-husband.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Howard and Ghent have an angreement in which the former receives 21 percent of anything Howard made over $62,500 in the first three months of this year. However, it is not clear if the said stipulation comes from their divorce agreement.
Howard has filmed three episodes for "Empire" in 2015, this means Michelle Ghent stands to get around $66k.
Terrence Howard will also star in "Wayward Pines", opposite Matt Dillon, and will debut later this year. According to reports, he will also make the same amount of money he is getting from "Empire".
Howard was married to Ghent for three years from 2010, although they filed for divorce after one year. He was married to first wife Lori McCommas from 1989 to 2003 and again from 2005 to 2007, and they have three children together. Howard is now onto his fourth marriage and third wife, Miranda Pak, with whom he is expecting his fourth child.
Howard and Ghent's marriage did not end well as the Hustle & Flow star had a history of domestic violence allegations. Michelle Ghent was forced to take out two separate restraining orders against him.
Howard was arrested in 2001 on domestic violence charges for an attack on his first wife Lori McCommas. Howard and McCommas have three kids - Aubrey, 22, Hunter, 19, and Heaven, 17.
At a recent press conference, Howard said that he had 'grown so much' and compared his situation to Jesus Christ's. 'Jesus was nailed to the cross on allegations he was blasphemous,' he said. 'We slayed our messiah under false allegations. We've got to give people a chance to show who they are.'
Howard also thanked Fox for not taking 'any of that stuff into consideration' while casting Empire. 'They looked at the talent and the power of right now.'
Meanwhile, Howard and his current wife Miranda, 37, are preparing for the arrival of their baby boy on May 4. Howard said that he feels like it's his first time to be a father.
"I feel like I'm becoming a dad literally for the first time because I am mature now," says the actor. I know how to deal with the expectations that come with being a good father."
"I remember praying for the family when I was younger, thinking and always feeling like there was another child missing. Now, my son is about to be born. I think that will do really great things because I am a little more grown now. I just became a grandfather again," he said. "My grandson Adrian was born. I don't know if it gets better than this."
