Many are anticipating the launch of the Galaxy Note 5 which is expected to come out in Q4 of 2015. It will sport a 5.9-inch 4K resolution display, a 4,000mAh battery, and a $900-$1000 price tag. Others have noted that the resolution of Galaxy Note 5 is the first smart-phone size to feature such resolution. For the battery life, it's said to be a 20% increase over the previous Galaxy Note 4.
Samsung is expected to include a virtual reality function in the Galaxy Note 5. The team behind the PC Oculus Rift VR project has reportedly stated that the upcoming Note 5 is going to have specific functionality meant to complement to the virtual reality headset as well as features related to its very own Galaxy Gear VR technology.
ChristianToday cited that the Galaxy Note 5 will retain its Corning Gorilla Glass display, which will make it dust and scratch resistant. The Galaxy Note 5 also is expected to have a wireless charging when released later this year.
There are suggestions from analysts that the Galaxy Note 5 could possibly feature the first ever 20-megapixel camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera to secure excellent quality selfie photographs. As Apple recently promoted its Force Touch in the Apple Watch, analysts are expecting that Samsung could possibly respond in kind. This will be through the improved TouchID feature in the phablet together with the advanced retina scanner in order to strengthen security features.
Meanwhile, Gotta Be Mobile listed 10 things to expect from the Galaxy S4 Lollipop update:
1. Expect that the Samsung S4 Lollipop release to come quietly. While carriers announce Android updates, those using Samsung S4 without a carrier brand should not expect the announcement of the update release. It has been observed that Samsung has the tendency to make quiet and unpredictable releases for its international variants. The only thing to do is to check for the update a couple of times.
2. Expect to have the release increase its pace in April/May. The update is currently limited since Samsung is making progress fixing Android 5.0 glitches. It is expected that the update would continue to move the next month and the month after.
3. Expect Galaxy S4 Active Lollipop update. Reports have stated that the Lollipop update for Galaxy S4 Active has been released already to several regions as well as to a new carrier in Austria. Analysts expect to see more Galaxy S4 Active Lollipop updates to be released soon.
4. Expect other Lollipop updates for other Galaxy S4 models. Since the Lollipop updated has already started, analysts expect to have the Lollipop updates for other Galaxy S4 models as well.
5. Expect most of US carriers to "remain silent" on the update. So far, only two US carriers have announced a Lollipop update. AT&T announced Galaxy S5 Lollipop update and the T-Mobile as well. Other carriers do not usually announce Lollipop update.
6. Expect that the US Galaxy S4 Lollipop update release won't be coming soon. It was mentioned that there is a possibility that US carriers would choose to keep the Galaxy S4 on Android 4.4 Kitkat and that they want to push user to latest Samsung device releases such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
7. Expect an extremely slow update release. Most carriers worldwide haven't confirmed update releases yet such as Australian carries Optus, Vedafone, and Telstra as well as the French carrier SFR, and Canadian carrier Rogers.
8. Expect heaping Galaxy S4 Lollipop problems. There are still various bugs and problems that manage to land and some problems are expected to continue and sometimes it could take weeks, even months.
9. Expect that it won't be for a while when a device receives Android 5.1 update. There are rumors that reportedly suggest that Samsung has yet to start working on Google's new Lollipop update and is reportedly planning to use Android 5.1 to Galaxy S6 features to some older devices. And no final decision has been made about it yet.
10. Expect a bleak future. The Galaxy S4 has been two years already since its release and, in the past, Samsung has maintained carrier updates for two years before the company drops them. Because of this, chances are high that the Galaxy S4's Android Lollipop update is very uncertain.
As Gotta Be Mobile noted, "Whatever the case, don't expect Samsung to come right out and confirm anything. Remember what we said about it being quiet? Galaxy S4 users should expect to have to sit in limbo for several months at least while Android 5.1 rumors firm up and rumors regarding a new Android update from Google start to pick up."
