Xbox One owners long craving for a new kind of MMO to sink their teeth into can rejoice with the release of "Neverwinter." The MMO was originally announced back in February.
"Neverwinter" is now available for download on the Xbox One, and it is indeed a free-to-play game, although only those who own an Xbox Live Gold subscription can actually play the game, according to Gamespot. The good news is that from the date of the game's release up to April 2, even prospective players who only own Silver accounts can join in on the fun. "Neverwinter" was originally released back in 2013 on the PC, but fans of the game can expect drastic changes from this latest version.
As with most, if not all MMOs, players will create their own characters, and for this title, they can choose from the races native to the world of "Dungeons & Dragons," according to Pure Xbox. The creation options allow for a great deal of customization, so it's unlikely for players to find their exact doppelgangers within the virtual world.
Players will also have the city of Neverwinter and the mythical subcontinent of Faerun to roam through as they hope to grow stronger by vanquishing the many foes and monsters who populate the land. "Neverwinter" has also been specially configured for the Xbox One, taking full advantage of the console's controller to provide optimal functionality. Players can also look through their friends list to locate anyone who maybe playing the game and choose to join forces as they go through the game.
There are still some imperfections to be found inside the game, according to Kotaku. Notably, the game's frame rate noticeably lags in certain points, serving to downgrade the experience, and even if the controls are configured exactly for the Xbox One controller, some of the commands are still awkward and unintuitive.
The game is now available worldwide.
