"Divergent: Allegiant" Movie is currently under pre-production and fans of the Divergent Trilogy have been anxiously waiting for its premiere. Author Victoria Roth reacts to her fans' petition to change the ending of her famous novel.
Last March of 2015, Insurgent, the second movie adaptation of the self-titled second book of the Divergent Series was released unto the big screen. Similar to the first movie of the series Divergent, Insurgent received tremendous attention from the media and gained audience satisfaction with regards to how the book was adapted into the movie. Sources say that Roth agreed to the necessary changes on the script of the Insurgent movie to make it more appealing to the audience.
"Insurgent" is a blockbuster hit and fans of the dystopian teen fiction are all anxious to watch the third installment of Divergent Series in the silver screen. It has been reported that the upcoming Allegiant movie adaptation will be a two part movie wherein Part One is scheduled on March of 2016 and Part Two slated on a March 2017 release.
For those who have read the book version of Allegiant, some of the audience is dreading the ending wherein two of the lead characters, Tris and Four, would actually die. Sources say that there have been ongoing petitions by the fans asking Roth to make yet changes again to how the movie would depict the third book. They are hoping that Roth would allow one of the lead characters, Tris, to stay alive when the movie would release by March of 2016.
During an interview, Veronica Roth relayed her reactions to said petitions. She said that movies are not supposed to be based on audience depicting how the story will go and that she is confident to retain the ending the same way the Allegiant book depicts how it should end. Furthermore, Roth states that she felt confident about the ending. She likewise stated that while she was writing the third book, she felt that the ending is fitting for the story and sees that changes are unnecessary for the movie's adaptation of her book's ending.
Despite Roth's reactions to the petitions, fans are still hopeful that, like the second movie adaptation of the Divergent Series, she will allow changes to be made unto the movie to satisfy the audience and would consider keeping Tris alive as Allegiant ends.
Do you think Veronica Roth will consider what the audience are petitioning and allow the Allegiant Movie to end with Tris alive? Do you think she made the right decision in leading Tris and Four to die in the last book of the Divergent Trilogy? Post your comments and reactions below.
