After the release of the April Nintendo direct, many are still digesting the 'litany' of news and updates paraded in an hour-long video. Satoru Iwata, Global president of Nintendo Company, stringed together a barrage of Nintendo updates for the 2015 game year. Though the video contains a lot of insight on the direction the company is heading, there are some reveals that really surprised fans.
Smash Bros Update and Character ballot
Iwata first showed a new DLC that features a new line of costumes based on various Nintendo characters like Zelda, Megaman, Xenoblade's Dunban and more for the Mii fighter. Then Iwata opened up a ballot for Smash Bros fans asking their suggestions for game characters they want to include in the game. The vote is still open as the deadline is October 13. The new costume DLC will be released on April 15.
Fatal Frame comes to the Wii U
The controversial and unique survival horror game, Fatal frame finally comes to the Wii U. This horror game features three characters wandering inside a cursed tourist area armed only with a 'ghost-busting' camera. On its first release on the Playstation 2 in 2001, the game was well received by game critics, especially due to its unique fighting system and engaging plot.
Fire emblem-Shin Megami Tensei cross-over
The Nintendo direct also featured the first ever trailer of the Fire emblem-Shin Megami Tensei cross-over. The crossover of these two highly rated, Japanese RPGs have been announced last year, but it is only during Iwata's announcement that fans of the series got its first glimpse of the game. Though a North American release is not yet revealed, the game will be released in Japan this year.
Nintendo 64 and DS games now available on the Wii U
Iwata also announced that 64 and DS games is now included in the roster of games playable on the Wii U Virtual console. Super Mario 64 (N64) and Yoshi's Island are already available with a few more titles to be released in the next few days.
