Smash Bros will get a ton of upgrades after Satoru Iwata, Nintendo Company president, announced developments and projects the company is involved on his Nintendo Direct. He revealed a huge number of details on his hour-long video ranging from game updates to new game releases and plans for the future. However, he specifically started the video with updates for Smash Bros and the amazing character ballot.
DLC Characters on the way
Heavyweight characters from iconic games will enter the Smash Bros fighting arena this year. The new DLCs will feature characters like Mewtwo of Pokemon and Lucas from Mother 3. Fans can now use these characters to smash their way into the fray after their release. The Mewtwo DLC is set this coming April 28, while Lucas arrives later this June.
Features, Costume and Customization upgrades
Smash Bros gets an upgrade with the version 1.06 update that adds new features, customization options and a list of new costumes to choose from. The update adds costumes from iconic game title such as Xenoblade, Megaman series and Link. Aside from gameplay upgrades, the 1.06 update increases sharing functions for photos, characters, customized stages and tweaks character balancing.
The Character Ballot
In an interesting move by Iwata, he announced on his April Nintendo direct, that a character ballot will be opened to allow fans to vote any character they want to include in Smash Bros' roster of fighters. The ballot page, as reported by Kotaku, became a hot bed of ideas ranging from interesting votes such as adding the 'reckless silhouette guy' that appears on the Wii's start-up screen to hilarious suggestion such as including Dragon Ball's Goku.
However, one character suggestion is indeed worth exploring. An anonymous vote went in for Super Mario Bros' Luigi to get a stage appearance on this beat-em-up game. When asked the title of the game the character appears in, the honest voter filled in, "can't think of any."
Though Luigi is featured in Smash Bros already, the said 'side-kick' though technically an intergral part of Super Mario Bros as he is Mario's brother, seems to have too few media exposure for the voter.
