Western audiences will finally be able to get their hands on the highly-sought after "Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains" this May. The upcoming title is the improved version of the game which was released in Japan during December of 2014. The update and enhancements were deemed necessary after the initial version of the game drew the ire of some fans and critics in the country, according to Forbes.
The newest version, coming to the west, has upgraded graphics and a four player online multiplayer mode. Atlus, the game's publisher, also announced that the game will be playable on the Nintendo 3DS. Because of its home console, the game will be providing support for the handheld's C-Stick and Circle Pad Pro, according to Gamespot.
The game starts with a player's character becoming a part of the elite Scout Regiment. The player's duty is to protect the three walls from the wrath of the villainous Titans, and in order to do so, they will have access to omni-directional gears and blades which are all customizable. Players will hear the original Japanese audio for the game, but they will have subtitles to make the dialogues understandable.
"Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains" will only be made available on Nintendo's eShop. The game, adapted from the popular anime "Attack on Titan", is only one part of the growing franchise. A live-action film adaptation of the popular anime series is also in the works and set for release some time in the near future.
For fans who can't wait for the game to finally be launched, they can quell their cravings by watching the first two episodes of the show online. The first two episodes are currently available on Nintendo's eShop for free, according to Polygon.
Be warned that the original anime series is pretty violent, meaning viewer discretion is advised. No exact date for the game's release has been given.
