Marvel Television and Netflix's first joint venture into web television, "Daredevil" will finally be hitting the World Wide Web this April 10, 2015. Consequently, it would seem that the tiitular character will not be the first one to deliver a blow, as local mob boss Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin portrayed by Vincent D'Onofrio has made it a point that he would really love to take a crack literally on the Spiderman, if given the chance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In an interview with IGN:
"That would be super-cool, yeah," D'Onofrio confessed. "To be able to kick Spider-Man's butt would be awesome. But we just don't know about those things. Those are all the Marvel secrets that they never tell us until they need us, so... Yeah, I would do it. I would do it in second."
Such a hostile aspiration may not be quite farfetched for the accomplished character actor, as Ted Sarandos Netflix's Chief Content Officer disclosed that the said joint venture is "modeled after The Avengers" and a crossover into the MCU "has been talked about".
Accordingly, comic book adaptations jumping into the television screen are not heat of the moment spectacles, considering the decent run rival DC Comics had with Smallville way back in 2001. Just three years ago,DC made another gamble into the small screen with "Arrow" in 2012 which paved the way for "Flash" in 2014. "The Atom" a recurring character in the "Arrow" series is being greenlit to be DC Entertainment/Warner Bros. Television to have his own spinoff.
Marvel and Netflix are continuing the golden age of superhero series albeit in a different viewing format. "Daredevil" who stars Charlie Cox as the lawyer whose senses are heightened after an accident will also be joined by Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Nelson, Rosario Dawson. The series will have a 13-episode run which will be the kickoff for the following Marvel series namely: Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist which will all culminate in a crossover called "The Defenders".
