Killer Instinct Update: Cinder Turned into Alien in Fire, New Backstory & More Details

By

Cinder's comeback on Killer Instinct is revealed with a major makeover, going beyond his classic alien/human hybrid by setting him on fire. Iron Galaxy Studios details the transformation of the incoming character from the standard Cinder to a whole new one.

Iron Galaxy Studios crafted the new Cinder in fire in Microsoft labs with a "fired up" mechanic, "back facing" stance, different alien-hybrid type treatments (organic to machine), and a posture reminiscent of a gunslinger. Cinder's new makeover is the result of uniting Ferris and with Glacius' DNA.

Cinder also has four eyes. The spell on his armor is Ultratech's signature, which is inclusive in all its techs.

Changes in the face of Cinder include his mask with tech to guard his face and protect people from being terribly burned and irradiated by the energies he possesses. When he wearing his armor, it hides Cinder's mouth to make him less of a human and more of an alien. Meanwhile, Cinder's body has been made bulky while his waist is being entirely configured. Leg plates are added, and the codpiece is gone.

Cinder's alter ego Ben Ferris started out as successful military man who left his momentous career at age 31 to exploit a profitable paramilitary vocation. With his seamless military record, Ferris caps off successful errands for anomalous organizations and big shots in exchange for a good amount of penny.

His underground connections thrust him to Interpol's most wanted list. However, with his past experience at the team he becomes elusive to authorities. Then one call changes him forever.

Ferris was contracted to break into Ultratech and access information related to Project Cinder for an absurd lump sum. Targeting Ultatech is unheard of among Ferris' colleagues as if it does not exist at all. Ferris began his mission and slowly it makes him want to dig more. He finally penetrated Ultratech, made acquaintances inside, putting the offices with bugs. Later he discovered the organization has got something at hand-Extraterrestrial origins for Project Cinder.

"Ben being a petty crook wasn't sitting well with us, yet we didn't want him to be some mastermind criminal, nor someone on death row. We also didn't want him to be a caught criminal, as that implied he wasn't as good as he thought he was... and we wanted him to be really, really good," Iron Galaxy Studios said in a blog forum.

This idea leads Ferris from a special-operative soldier to a chief thief for hire. Ferris becomes a prisoner who was given a parole by Ultratech in a condition of using himself in the organization's experiments.

Cinder's moveset and other features will be discussed next week.
