What game issues are addressed with latest 'Pillars of Eternity' patch? Plans for expansion also revealed

Patch 1.03 for "Pillars of Eternity fixes one of the game's most glaring flaws and also addresses some of the other nagging issues surrounding the recently released title.

Shortly after the game was released back on March 26, players of "Pillars of Eternity" immediately started to harp on a particular bug causing some of the players' items to lost valuable abilities.

The bug would show up whenever a player would double-click an item in order to set it as a piece of equipment. Players would then lose all of their passive abilities after the item was double-clicked. Players were able to circumvent the issue by dragging the items to the designated slots, according to Polygon.

Patch 1.03 ensures the same problem would no longer persist with the newer version of the game, and it also retroactively fixed the issue for players who had already suffered from its effects. As long as players were able to open a saved game in the latest patch, the equipment issue would be fixed.

Aside from addressing the game's biggest problem, the new patch is also designed to fix the other minor bugs and balance issues found within "Pillars of Eternity," according to Kotaku.

Some of the additional tweaks are necessary, as they resolve crash issues within the game. Other elements found in the new patch simply add more features to the game, with antialiasing options and even the delightful new addition which allows bears to now wear hats.

In related news, Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart also said the company has plans to release two expansion packs for "Pillars of Eternity," according to PC Gamer.

The two expansion packs would be released on different dates, but both would be designed to add more storylines to the game, so that players who have already finished it will have more reasons to continue their journey.

As of now, the expansion packs are still in the conceptual stage.
