The "Taylor Swift Effect" does it again. Newcomer singer Kelsea Ballerini is the recipient of the "Taylor Swift Effect" when the country chart queen tweeted that she appreciates Ballerini's single "Love Me Like You Mean It."
Taylor Swift tweeted that she's been driving around with Ballerini's EP on repeat. "So lovely," she wrote. Ballerini's latest single "Love Me Like You Mean It" off her self-titled extended play was the most added female debut on country radio last year. The video for "Love Me Like You Mean It" debuted on CMT over the weekend.
When asked by MTV what it feels like to be given a serious recognition from one of the biggest pop stars, Ballerini said, "Someone tagged me in a screen shot of the tweet and I literally looked at it and thought it was a fake account, and didn't think anything of it because I'm like, ‘There's absolutely no way that Taylor Swift even knows who I am.' And then my phone started blowing up and I was like, ‘This is a real thing.' And so I just pulled up my computer and just looked at it for five minutes straight and did not even know what to do."
Ballerini then responded to Taylor Swift by tweeting out a photo from the time she met the singer in Nashville, which Taylor then favorited. Taylor and Ballerini were guests during the birthday celebration of Abigail Anderson.
After Swift's tweet, Ballerini's breakthrough single "Love Me Like You Mean It" reached a new peak of 19 on the Mediabase chart. The song boasts a weekly spin count of 3,536 (No.18, 371 spins) and a weekly audience impression count of 24.481 million (No. 20, 3.636 million impressions).
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris' relationship is getting deeper. The couple were seen attending a HAIM concert on April 2, where they packed on the PDA all night long. Swift, 25, and Harris, 31, confirmed their romance by partaking in some major PDA during the concert at the Troubador in West Hollywood. The next day, Calvin was seen leaving Taylor's house.
"They were all over each other," an eyewitness tells HollywoodLife. "He had his arm around Taylor at the show the entire time. They were laughing, kissing and were really into each other. They were dancing and just having a really fun time. They definitely weren't hiding their affections."
HollywoodLife claimed that Calvin really loves how Taylor is "so independent, so fun and so genuine." He thinks that she's such a "good-hearted person" and knows "deep down inside that she likes him for the right reasons."
