Force Touch technology: a game-changer for Apple, and unique in each three Apple devices

Morgan Stanley analyst Bill Lu and his team believe that the Force Touch technology and Taptic Engine will be game-changers for Apple, since it could be used in aid medical research, especially when used together with Apple's ResearchKit. Meanwhile, analyst Ming-Chu Kuo stated that the Force Touch technology would be different than what is used in Apple Watch. T

PK is reportedly handling all operations about the launch of the Force Touch technology for Apple's latest smartphones, according to a report by Economic Daily News via Christian Daily. However, the news site only mentioned that the technology will be built for the iPhone 6S Plus. It was not specified if it will be featured in the iPhone 6S. Others have speculated that the Force Technology could be exclusive for iPhone 6S Plus.

In a separate report, an analyst lately gave a note to investors on Thursday saying that upcoming iPhones will have a FPC-made capacitive Force Touch under the backlight. It will be covered with a metal shielding. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo further said that this change might prompt Apple to call the following iPhone as "iPhone 7", instead of the rumored "iPhone 6C."

He also said that the hardware design of the Force Touch will be different than what is used in the Apple Watch, as well as with the 12-inch Retina MacBook. The improved hardware of the Force Touch technology for the next-generation iPhone will detect the contact area where a finger presses. This will then check the amount of pressure made.

MacRumors cited Kuo saying, "We believe that iPhone's Force Touch sensor doesn't directly detect the pressure applied by fingers. Instead, it monitors the contact area on which the finger touches the screen to decide how big the pressure is."

In addition to this, it seems that it is not only the iPhones that are getting the Force Touch technology. Reports by ValueWalk stated that the iPad Pro will also have the Force Technology. ValueWalk cited Morgan Stanley analyst Bill Lu and his team and that they reportedly said it seems Apple is accelerating its production of Force Touch sensors. They also said that this would indicate that the technology could be coming to more Apple devices. They cited the possibility of the next iPad to come with a Force Touch and/or Taptic Engine.

The team reportedly believes that Force Touch and Taptic Engine offer fresh ways for users to interact with their devices. The Force Touch particularly allows the Apple Watch to determine between a press and a tap. On the other hand, Taptic Engine functions on MacBooks give the "illusion of a click."

Both Apple technologies could be used in aid medical research, especially when used together with Apple's ResearchKit. The Force Touch API would enable researchers to make apps for gathering data from patients by the means of the accelerator, microphone, camera, and barometer.

The same team also believes that both Force Touch and Taptic Engine is going to be as "game-changing as the Touch ID fingerprint scanner."
