The Sandman Movie Update: Joseph Gordon-Levitt confirmed to play Morpheus, direct film; Release date set in 2016?

By

WB made no announcements about the queuing film Sandman slated for release eventhough Joseph Gordon-Levitt is on the helm for directing and for being Morpheus in the said film.

The actor confirmed playing the role and is now said to be having meetings with the screenplay writer Jack Thorne and producer of the film Neil Gaiman.

The actor delighted to be pretty much excited about the project. He said, 'Been doing a lot of work with David Goyer and Jack Thorne, working on the screenplay. We've been doing our meetings at the DC office, which is a frickin' rad place to work. Also, just had a great conversation last week with David and Mr. Gaiman. Neil has been extremely big hearted with me, and he's the one I want to please most.

Updates answered a lot about this when Sandman creator Neil Gaiman was asked about the lack of Morpheus amidst Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman on Tumblr.

In honesty, Gaiman revealed why there hasn't been any announcement about the film. He confessed, 'It's not a DC Comics film. It's a Vertigo film. That's a different slate of films, and a different announcement."

With this information, Sandman's non-existence is now in a light. It's also undoubtedly a confirmation that the production will be kept separate and secret from the common world the other 10+ movies of DC Comics film will be a part of.

The not-so-much popular but award winning and brilliant writer (BAFTA) Jack Thorne will be working the screen-writing job. The Warner Bros. must have seen something upon the passive gentleman.

He even confessed, "I was always slightly scared of it. I think you need a big idea. I was slightly scared of doing it because I didn't want to let myself down, and be hated."

The Sandman movie is set to be released on theatres on 2016.
