Apple Watch Price Ranges $349 to $17,000? iWatch to Leave Buyers Fumbling for Words, Tim Cook sets Pre-Orders

Now, here's another trick up Tim Cook's sleeve: Apple Watch. Just when you think the Cupertino-based tech giant is swimming in iPhone success, it's dipping its fingers into wearables. Once the device rolls out by April 26 as announced with pre-order by April 10, the Apple Watch will go down in history as Apple's first foray into wearable tech.

But even with all its awesome display of features and gimmickry - something that would give its mortal enemy Android a run for its money - pundits have relegated the Apple Watch as no big deal and its market roll-out a non-event, one carrying a promise that bears an uncanny resemblance to what is already found in a thriving market.

One thing is certain though, this market introduction is creating a lot of attention - a stimulus that has made Apple thrived upon through the years.

Apple and Its Magic Wand

Apple of course has lead the pack in its wizardry over gadgets. Its fourth quarter earnings last year saw its coffers filled with unimaginable fortunes, dubbed the "biggest quarterly profit in history" by BBC News.

But that was all because of one device: iPhones.

This time around the Cupertino-based company could be in for a lot of surprises arriving late in a market run by its old nemesis, Google and its army of Android wearables.

Forbes, for one has castigated Apple Watch as reminiscent of its competitors having similar "looks and works" and predicting the wearable won't be received well and would therefore not sell.

Add a price range that starts at $349 for its entry-level Sport model and levels up to $17,000 for the top-of-the-line VIP 18-karat gold edition and you could be sure the Apple Watch is taking on a classy market.

A Familiar Promise

Available in nine countries initially: US, UK, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong and Japan, the Apple Watch will soon invade every country in the planet - promised Apple top gun, Tim Cook.

For starters, the Apple Watch beams our daily ration of messages - from Facebook updates to simplified apps, doing away with the need to pull out our devices from our pockets for notifications.

What sets it apart from Android Wear could be its built-in mic and speaker allowing its user to hold a phone conversation with someone, reports Tom's Guide.

And there's Glances, a nifty way of seeing your notifications and apps by just swiping the screen from the bottom. Add long press, and you activate Siri and all the good things that comes with it: the weather, belt out voice commands.

On the fitness side, you get to a progress report of your physical activities for the day via the Activity app. Plus you get you fitness goal set by the watch itself based on your fitness behavior. Its heart sensor could be a head-turner and is making everyone on their toes also.

More Added Benefits

There is also a lot of customization available with Emojis for instance something you can change by just rolling the watch crown up and down.

And yes, there is Apple Pay which allows you pay via the Apple Watch without taking out your iPhone.

Put in flight-checking via Passbook, calling Uber drivers from your wrist, opening hotel rooms via W Hotel app and it seems Apple is off to a good start.

However, with Google and its Android wearables well-entrenched with its slew of similar features getting the Apple Watch could be a tall order. For instance, the popular Android-based Moto starts at $249, a $100 lesser than the $349 Apple Watch price tag.

To note, there are other features where Android wearable tech excel. Battery life is one and it could be a telling factor as the Moto's two-full-day battery life outlasts the sustaining power of Apple Watch listed at just 18 hours.
