'Gremlins' Remake coming soon; Gizmo and Co. makes a comeback as Warner Bros plans to reboot the 80s classic

The loveable Gizmo and his evil cousins are about to make a comeback to the big screen if everything goes right. And by the way things are shaping up a "Gremlins" remake is looking more and more possible. This is because of the recent announcement that Carl Ellsworth, the man who penned the upcoming Goosebumps movie adaptation, is now on board to write the story for a Gremlinsremake.

Talks of remaking the 1984 movie started back in 2013 when it was reported that Warner Bros is looking to reboot the movie. To make things more interesting, reports back then show that Warner Bros is talking with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment to produce the movie. Seth Grahame-Smith was tapped shortly to produce the movie.

In January this year though, Smith broke a lot of hearts when he said that the project is nowhere near being made. "I think we just ran out of steam," said Smith in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "It's one of those things where everybody got busy doing other things. It's something I would love to come back to, but right now Steven's making two movies back to back and Chris Columbus is busy. We're all taking a five-minute break on that."

The latest news about the Ellsworth hiring should have fans of the original movie waiting with delight. Ellsworth has completed some noteworthy movies like Disturbia in 2007, The Last House on the Left in 2009, and Red Dawn in 2012.

The 1984 film was a massive success during its time. It was produced at an estimated cost of $11 million which is not exactly a big budget for its time. After it's all said and done though, the movie raked in close to $150 million in the United States alone. That's even after going up the movie Ghostbusters on its opening day. Surely producers are looking to have a similar payday for the remake, whenever they get around to doing it though.
