Scarlett Johansson to get naked in 'Creature from Black Lagoon' remake?

By

It appears that Scarlett Johansson has been approached to play the female lead in the remake of the Creature from Black Lagoon. The star who is about to grace the big screen again this year as Black Widow in the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron is yet to announce whether she will join the project or not. Universal though has made it clear that she is their top choice for the female lead. If the new movie follows the original story, the female lead would be kidnapped by the Gill-Man after the latter fell in love with her.

In 1954, a film about a group of scientists that went on an expedition in the Amazonian rainforest and meeting a man-fish hybrid caught the attention of many moviegoers. The movie Creature from the Black Lagoon has achieved fame and praise and filmmakers are looking to bring the creature back to the big screen. In fact, Universal is also looking to reboot other classic monster movies to create a shared universe between the monsters. It is widely believed that the 2013 movie Dracula Untold is the first of such movies.

In March of 2012, Universal announced that they are making a reboot of the monster flick. It was also announced that the movie will be simply titled Black Lagoon to make it easier to differentiate between the two versions. In October of the same year, Dave Kajganich was hired to write the script for the new film. It was first stated that the movie would be done and ready for release by 2014 but it was cancelled soon after. Still, the project has not been scrapped according to the latest news to come out of the studio.

Jeff Blitz, Gary Ross, Tedi Sarafian and Paul Schering have already been tabbed to create the script for the movie as well. Ross will also join Robin Bissell, Marc Abraham and Eric Newman as producers. But for now, we have to wait further whether or not that Scarlett Johansson will say yes to the offer of joining the cast of Creature from Black Lagoon.
