'Arrested Development' is now officially extended; What does the future hold for the Bluth family?

By

Fans of the hit TV show Arrested Development have reason to celebrate as the series is officially extended, for at least 17 new episodes. The confirmation came from series producer Brian Grazer in a podcast guesting with Bill Simmons. Unfortunately, Simmons did not ask Grazer more about what the future might hold for the Bluth family. Although no official press release has been made about the extension, the producer's word should be enough to cause rejoicing for the show's fans.

It can be remembered that development for the show has been arrested in 2006 when Fox pulled the plug on it. The show originally aired on Fox from 2003 to 2006. After the cancellation, fans of the show have been critical of the broadcasting company. In 2013, Netflix brought the show back when it ordered 15 episodes for the fourth season.

The original cancellation for Arrested Development was hinged on the fact that although the show has been praised by critics, it failed to garner a massive audience. The first season garnered an average of 6.2 million viewers which dropped to just about 6 million for the second season. The third season saw further decrease in viewership as it only cornered about 4 million viewers. Grazer even acknowledged that it was never a huge thing but added that people are loyal to the show, something that's been proven with the popularity of the show 7 years after its cancellation.

That's all in the past though for the fans and the makers of the show as it has found success with Netflix. After being picked up by Netflix and getting the 15 episodes available online, actors from the show have went on record saying that they are up for more. Indeed, fans of Arrested Development can expect for more. With this news, it looks like the dysfunctional Bluth family will be making a lot of people laugh a lot more in the coming months.
