"Expendables 4" doesn't seem like Sylvester Stallone's priority right now, but perhaps it should be. The last film didn't fare particularly well at the box office, which many attest is due to the film leaking online several weeks before it was due to be released in theaters. But while piracy may have hurt the third in the Expendables franchise, multiple stars from the last film have publicly come out in favor of a fourth.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is extremely pro-Expendables 4. In UPI, it was revealed that he had personally spoken to Stallone and urged him to write a fourth film - and if that wasn't possible, to hire someone else to take care of the screenplay. That's how much he'd want to star in another one.
"I just think it's a terrific franchise. I told Sly to write another one or have someone else write another one. A really terrific story. Because I think it's a great idea to have an ensemble piece with that many action heroes in a movie. Especially if the comedy is really done well. It could be a great story. There's definitely room for another one."
Jason Statham said something along the same lines, although in not so many words. He's definitely into the idea of another Expendables go-round.
"I'll do as many as he wants," said Statham. "It's not my thing to dream up the ideas and what's in store. One, do I want to do another one? Two, are people tired of it already? You don't know."
There is, however, one actor who most definitely won't be around if everyone else gets their way and "Expendables 4" becomes official. Jackie Chan, who's been long rumored for another "Expendables 4" go-round, has been confirmed as not starring in the film. It's not clear what role Chan would have played, but considering that some have described a potential Expendables 4 as "outside the box," he might well have been playing the villain.
What do you think? Could Chan play a convincing villain? Will he change his mind and come back to "Expendables 4"?
