DMX has denied recent reports of robbery he allegedly committed earlier this month, saying he could not "recall any incident happening" and that it was not the first time he was "accused" of something he did not do.
It can be recalled that the 44-year-old rapper and his entourage have been accused of robbing a man at gunpoint at a gas station in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday. The accuser is the alleged victim, a 21-year-old man residing in Newark, according to Us Weekly.
The man reportedly encountered DMX and his friends at the gas station early Sunday morning. He told police that after having a brief conversation with the "We In Here" rapper, one of the star's companions allegedly flashed a gun and asked him for money. The alleged victim claimed he had just cashed his paycheck, which was then taken by DMX before leaving in one of the vehicles belonging to his entourage.
In a recent interview with TMZ, DMX has denied the man's claims. "I do not recall the incident in which you are referring to. I have no idea what it's about. I mean, it comes with the territory. People are always gonna take shots. Try to accuse you of things. It's not the first thing I've been accused of that I didn't do," he said.
The "Where the Hood At?" hit-maker argued that people "would have known about it, like, for real" if he had really done it. "I wouldn't be able to travel as freely as I do, if I did it. There's nothing to worry about."
When the interviewer brought up the possibility of the incident having been caught by security footage, DMX replied: "I wouldn't even be on the cameras. We stopped at a gas station. I don't recall any incident happening."
He apparently found it absurd to be accused of robbing someone, asserting that "I make way more than that doing a show. So, why would I want that type of trouble for myself...?" DMX (real name Earl Simmons) also blamed the devil for the allegations. "The harder the devil works at trying to destroy me because I'm special to God."
According to reports, no formal charges have been filed against the "Party Up" singer, but authorities are still investigating the man's allegations.
