The Xbox One is not exactly the ideal console, but Microsoft is certainly working towards making that a reality as the company recently revealed new features for the console and new plans to also bring in more talent to work on it going forward.
Starting with the news of the company looking for some new staff members, it appear as though they are specifically looking for a new Principal Software Engineer. According to the company, the person hired for the job will, "design new API's and features for the Xbox One and gaming across all Windows platforms."
The listing could also be seen as an indicator that Microsoft is indeed planning to ramp up their efforts to provide cross-platform gaming, according to Gaming Bolt. In their continuing efforts to improve the Xbox One, Microsoft has also recently introduced a new part to the set-up process for the Xbox One, according to Forbes.
The new part will ask players to choose from one of two power plans for their console. Players can either choose to go with the "Energy Saving" power plan or the "Instant On" power plan. The new option is being offered in the wake of news coming from the NRDC regarding just how much the Xbox One might be costing owners when it comes to their electric bills.
According to the NRDC, the "Instant On" feature of the console is costing owners of the console a combined total of $250 million a year. For their part, Microsoft has continued to tout the virtues of the "Instant On" feature while simultaneously downplaying the findings of the NRDC.
Interestingly, Microsoft has also chosen to cut prices yet again for the Xbox One, according to Gamespot. The company has chosen to reduce the prices of their console in the UK down from £ 330 to £ 299.99. It's seen as part of the company's efforts to keep up with the sales numbers of the Playstation 4. Combined with the new features and possibly even more additions down the road, Microsoft has clearly taken a more aggressive tone in terms of marketing their console to the masses.
