As the Spider-Man franchise officially joins Marvel Cinematic Universe, a reboot is in talks and has also been officially confirmed. Plot will see a young Peter Parker in High School. Mary Jane may come back in the picture as Spidey's love interest.
It has been reported that Sony and Marvel are looking to send Peter Parker back to high school - again. This explains why Andrew Garfield is not part of the cast anymore as studio execs are thinking about centering on the web-slinger's life as a teenaged crime-fighter. There have been much speculation about who's going to take on the role of teenaged Spidey and a lot of young Hollywood names have sprung up. But the real question in everyone's mind is... Who's going to be Peter's love interest?
Since the reboot aims to focus on Pete's high school life yet again, could it be that they are bringing Mary Jane Watson back into the picture? After all, MJ was the girl next door that caught Peter's eye when he first moved in with Aunt May and Uncle Ben. And who's going to play her? It has been confirmed that the reboot will see a younger 15- to 16-year-old Peter Parker seeing action in the planned 2017 standalone "Spider-Man" film, so this means we won't be expecting Shailene Woodley to play the feisty redhead anytime soon.
