It looks like Marvel is ready for a female-dominated superhero film, and the Captain Marvel movie seems to be their pioneer attempt at such. After rumors of the studio looking for female directors to head the film, it has been confirmed that the script development is being led by two of Hollywood's premier female screenwriters.

Marvel Studios had big announcements during their recent press junket, and it's not just about the Avengers. Female fans of the Marvel Comics are very happy to hear that one of the foremost female characters in the comic book giant's universe is coming to the big screen. Yes, Ms Marvel/Carol Danvers will have her own film soon as Captain Marvel. And yes, in this side of the Marvel Universe, women rule.

One of the many superhero movies lined up for release between 2016 and 2019, Captain Marvel is still on its early stages. Marvel Studios have confirmed that this film will debut as one of their female-fronted action superhero films, even sparking rumors of a female director to run the show. Could Angelina Jollie come on-board as director? That's just one of the names that came up with the rumors that high-profile female directors are likely to run the show this time.

One thing's confirmed though, the film has signed up a pair of kick-ass female writers to head the overall screenplay. Nicole Perlman, one of the geniuses behind another Marvel smash hit Guardians of the Galaxy, has been confirmed to be onboard. The other half of the team is Pixar's Inside Out writer Meg LeFauve.

Being considered a "feminist icon" of Marvel superheroes, it is safe to assume that studio execs are looking to make this film women-oriented. If they are going to be true to the essence of the comic book, that is. With the comic book's original tagline "This female fights back!" we should expect some gender-bending and a lot of stereotype breaking, especially since the writers are also empowered females. Gender equality and women's rights are just some of the prominent topics of the original Captain Marvel comic books.

Captain Marvel is set to hit theaters early November 2018. A female superhero movie lead by kick-ass female writers. What are your thoughts on the upcoming femme fatale superhero movie? Share your thoughts below.
