The much awaited sequel for the Maze Runner franchise is set to be released in September this year. Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials as it is titled should be close to being wrapped up and ready for release very soon. In the meantime, fans of the show are clamoring for a sneak peek at how the new movie would look like hence the demand for an official trailer.
Good News and Bad News
The good news is that director Wes Ball has confirmed that the official trailer for the sequel is already done. The bad news is that he has no idea when it would be released. He posted on Twitter saying: "Sorry guys. I don't control when the trailer comes out. Just know the studio has their plan. You'll see it in all it's glory in due time." To date, there are several fan-made trailers available on YouTube but nothing official yet.
New Character
Maze Runner 2 will introduce a new character played by Nathalie Emmanuel who gained popularity as Missandei, Daenerys Targaryen's assistant in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. In a recent interview, Emmanuel shed some light on her character in the movie. "I play a character called Harriet who -if you've read the book- is basically the leader of the group B, so in the first movie we see the boys in the Glade, somewhere in that crazy world there was a second maze full of women or full of girls," said Emmanuel.
For fans of the book series, the sequel would bring to life yet another major character. The first movie did well in the box office grossing $102 million in the United States with an estimated budget of $34 million. The second movie promises to be an even better spectacle and could give its predecessor a run for its money.
