Did Mariah Carey have gone too obvious and too far? The singer's latest album cover was noticeably photoshopped way too much that most thought the retouch in the photo is a far cry from her real looks.
The 45-year old singer and a mother of two, posted on Instagram last April 12, the album cover for her upcoming album '#1 to Infinity.' The album was a compilation of Mariah's greatest hits and will be released on May 18. Instead of the pure excitement on Mariah's songs in the album, fans, as well as critics, were busy bashing the diva's album cover.
Apparently, the photo used by Mariah in her upcoming album looked like it was photoshopped. What made this graver was that the airbrushing job done was not just a simple one, but a way too obvious one. Mariah looked strikingly skinny and sporting her super legs which people had long missed before. Some even commented that the photo looked like Mariah's appearance way back in the 90's.
"#RevealMariah thank you #lambily for joining the fun & revealing my new album cover! My new album #1 To Infinity will be available for pre-orders tomorrow @ 10am EST on mariahcarey.com! More details to follow! #1toInfinity," Mariah captioned her photo.
Since then, the photo garnered more than 40,000 likes. These likes, however, were coupled with criticisms. The photo started a Twitter war among Mariah's fans, which she called 'The Lambs'. Some fans asked to stop bashing Mariah, while some can't help themselves but to plead celebrities like Mariah to stop the Photoshop trend.
Mariah's appearance from her last public stunt in the TV show 'Empire' was noticeably different from her looks in the cover album. This prompted some to tag Mariah as a 'Photoshop nightmare.'
Mariah's camp has no statement yet on the matter. What is clear right now is that Mariah and her team are busy for the preparation on the diva's new album. Other celebrities once stood in Mariah's place before. One of the most known incident was Beyonce's alleged Photoshop in most of her Instagram photos which drew backlash from most people, including her fans.
