Canon XC10 4K Camcorder Unveiled; Features CMOS Sensor for 4K Video Resolution

By

Canon has just unveiled a new toy for videographers and photographers capable of taking High-Quality still images as well as 4K resolution video. The Canon XC10 4K camcorder is said to be one of the successors to the high-end Cinema EOS line of cameras. It uses CMOS sensor that gives 12 stops of dynamic range when recording 4K resolution videos at 305Mbps. This means that professionals will always get the best picture quality regardless of the lighting level.

The form of the XC10 basically looks like any other DSLR cameras. Except for that it has a rotating grip that allows different shooting styles keeping the main feature controls at the photographer’s fingertips. It comes with a 24-240mm-equivalent f/2.8-5.6 zoom fixed lens, and a dimension of 4.9 x 4 x 4.8 inches. While its base form seems small, attachments like the lens hood and a clip-on loupe-style viewfinder would transform the camcorder to its slightly bigger version more suitable for video recording.

Since the Canon XC10 4K camcorder is intended for professional photography, the manufacturer has also thrown in a generous number of ports in all the right places. It has an audio jack, a microphone socket, a HDMI 1.4 port, DC power, a fully-integrated neutral density filter, an SD card/Compact Flash slot and USB. Wi-Fi connectivity is also available for professionals to upload their photos and video clips on their social media even without connecting the XC10 to the computer.

Under the hood, it was already mentioned that the Canon XC10 4K camcorder comes with a CMOS sensor to guarantee quality images whether taking a still photo or shooting a video. That is because the device runs on Canon’s new-generation DIGIC DV5 signal processor intended for 4K video support, 5-axis full HD image stabilization, as well as for fast and slow motion recording.

Furthermore, the camcorder is programmed with two of the latest codecs to keep the quality of photos and videos. These are the XF-AVC Intra codec for 4K recording and XF-AVC Long GOP for Full HD recording.

Starters and Professional photographers can surely benefit with more of what the Canon XC10 4K camcorder has to offer. The device will be on sale this June with a price tag of US$2,499.
