Beauty and the Beast: Will Emma Watson fit the role as Belle? New cast photos reveal

By

Emma Watson will play as Belle in Disney's timeless fairytale Beauty and the Beast. She'll be joined by other talented actors including the man behind Gandalf, Ian Mckellen.

Emma was seen happily posing with her co-stars in an unofficial cast pictorial posted in Josh Gad's Instagram account. The photo includes Watson, Dan Stevens, Kevin Kline who will play as Belle's father Maurice and Luke Evans as Gaston. Recently, Ian McKellen also confirmed his inclusion in the gig and will portray as Cogsworth. Social media seems to be the favorite medium for the cast's confirmation of their roles.

Earlier this year, Emma Watson took to Facebook her announcement to play as Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The actress posted:

I'm finally able to tell you... that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There'. My six year old self is on the ceiling - heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can't wait for you to see it. Emma xx

We've all seen how Emma has evolved from her Harry Potter years and onwards. But does a fairy tale princess suit her character? Fans and critics alike would agree that she embodies a woman of strong will. And just like Belle, Emma refused to let celebrity norms dictate her actions. She's an advocate of gender equality and has recently become the ambassador for U.N. Women Goodwill. She launched UN's HeforShe Campaign that went viral during its airing in March.

The morals in this Disney classic are often overshadowed by its dreamy love story. Emma Watson as Belle will be a powerful medium to highlight the lead character's strengths as a daughter, a lover and a woman.
