In a joint press release, Konami and Sony Computer Entertainment unveiled the contents of the new limited edition Playstation 4 pack for "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."
When it comes to the hardware, the pack will contain a special edition, red Playstation 4 and a gun metal controller for the console. The package will also include the game itself and "Metal Gear Online," according to Dual Shockers.
Players will also receive an art book, a field map, and even a bonus blu-ray. Also included in the package are download codes for things such as a dedicated Playstation 4 theme, downloadable content for the main game which includes in-game outfits, and another code for "Metal Gear Online" which will give players some new weapons, gear, and even a handy experience boost.
The pack will be available starting September 2. In related news, Konami has erased any form of reference to "Metal Gear" creator Hideo Kojima and his development team from the box art of the franchise's latest title, according to Crave Online.
For months, rumors have been circulating that both Konami and Kojima have had a sort of falling out, which has ultimately led to the "Metal Gear" creator leaving the company. It's worth noting that neither Kojima nor Konami has actually offered any official statement on the status of their relationship other than to say the former is still currently working on the game.
Prior to this latest bit of news, it seemed as though Kojima and Konami had been mending bridges, with the former's name even appearing on promotional materials for the game, but that appears to have changed yet again. For now, it appears the final word about the relationship between the two parties will only be made public once "Metal Gear Solid V" is released.
"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" will be released on the Playstation 3 and 4, and Xbox One and 360 on September 1, according to Siliconera. The game is also scheduled to be released for the PC on September 15.
