The trailer for what could've been Disney & Pixar's "X-Wings" movie is but a figment of an imaginative mind. Big Bee Studio, which is credited for the trailer that has gotten over 365,00 hits on YouTube, had stated off-the-bat that the fake trailer is a parody of Disney's "tired" formula of using talking vehicles.
It's a jab at Disney, though not all people may see it that way. The mash-up of the Star Wars and Cars characters in a trailer was entertaining to watch. The studio that created the trailer evidently nailed the look of the Cars and Star Wars characters and spacecrafts/superweapons.
Those who have been following the direction that has been taken by Disney over the last several years will readily note how, after its acquisition of Lucas Film, it's "only a matter of time before we see an animated film set in the Star Wars universe." While some movie watchers may probably ask, "Seriously?" or roll their eyes, others may actually look forward to it.
The trailer is one that can actually appeal to kids and even young-at-heart adults, especially those who don't want to bother with authenticity matters, or what the Disney Group is inclined to present. As some individuals who have seen the trailer quipped, they'd watch the movie, if it were real.
Overall, the fan-made trailer for Disney & Pixar's "X-Wings" movie got mixed reviews. On one hand, it did offer some entertainment value. Even Pixar regular talent John Ratzenberger got special mention. On the other hand, as a discerning viewer noted, the elements used were so realistic and with reference to the movie-making world, it was kind of disturbing.
Disney & Pixar's "X-Wings" is not happening yet, and some people are heaving a sigh of relief. They're relieved that for now, X-Wings has been developed as a toy, not a film that'll get mixed reactions for its amusing but mildly likable characters.
