By

Most Smartphones running on Android just got their recent OS update; however, this may be a thing in the past sooner or later as two builds running on Android 5.1.1 are discovered on Google's Android Audio Latency info page just very recently.

One of the guys at Android Authority spotted the new android over the info page. These builds are determined to be a LMY47S from a Nexus 9 and the other one is a LMY47W from a 2013 Nexus 7 Wi-Fi version. Furthermore, diggings into this discovery confirm that these builds have build dates of February 16 this year. Since the existence of Android 5.1.1 is neither confirmed by Google nor officially present at android.com, very little can be gathered from the new operating system. Nonetheless, what is crystal clear with these sightings is that Google is by now in the process of testing Android 5.1.1 for these devices.

As a brief background, Nexus 9 and the 2013 Nexus 7 Wi-Fi versions are the last remaining devices in the Nexus series without any official pronouncements for OTA Android 5.1 Lollipop updates to this date. Nexus 9 currently still runs at Android 5.0.1 while the company already rolled out Android 5.1 updates to its predecessors Nexus 5, Nexus 4, and the 2012 Nexus 7.

Historically, Google has always been discreet with their pronouncements on plans regarding their updates of mobile platforms and users are by and large, just notified only through OTAs. These Android 5.1.1 detections nevertheless provide insights that the company is working at the notorious issues with the recent Android 5.0.1 updates across Nexus devices.

Very minimal is known about Android 5.1.1; in fact, the only reports gathered are those from Google's Android Audio Latency information page. Wherever these testings bring, users implore that Google pays keen attention towards the numerous complaints the company receives since Android Lollipop updates rolled out such as the "bricking" of Nexus device after the installation or the other recurring issues like memory leaks and systems lag.
