The Canadian star, who was spending his time in Miami with wife Luisana Lopilato and son Noah, captioned the photo with "There was something about this photo lu took ,that seemed worthy of instagram. #myhumps #babygotback #hungryshorts #onlyinmiami #picoftheday #beautifulbum."

The Instagram photo was flooded with comments and replies; some were abhorred by Buble's action while others defended him. One follower said that with the way the woman dressed, it seemed as if she was asking to be photographed.

"[I]f people would take responsibility for the way they dress, maybe just maybe things like this wouldn't happen," wrote Instagram user @Miisschaotic.

Another fan responded to Buble's selfie and expressed her disgust towards the singer's act and the women defending him.

@Furbybae wrote, "Reading the comments of women saying it's a compliment to have photos of this taken them with no consent makes me want to vomit," adding, "Of course 95% of the men here think this is okay because the chances of a photo like this taken of them without their consent is slim to none. if it doesn't affect or bother their gender it doesn't matter basically. JUST REMEMBER."

As a response to all the degrading remarks being thrown at him, Michael Buble said he intended the candid photo to be a compliment towards women. He emphasized how he respects women and that he too was hurt that people thinks he meant the picture as an insult.

"I do not court controversy, but I realize that a photo that was meant to be complimentary and lighthearted has turned into a questionable issue. It hurts me deeply that anyone would think that I would disrespect women or be insulting to any human being. Michael continued, "I regret that there are people out there who found the photo offensive. That was not and is not my intention. Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected, honored and revered. I've spent my life believing that and will continue to do so."

Michael Buble received degrading remarks following his Instagram post showing a photo of himself and the backside of an unidentified woman. His action was called out by social media users as it was considered sexist and promotes body-shaming. The Canadian then issued a statement apologizing to the people offended by his photo.
