Will the iPad Mini 4 be Apple's slimmest tablet to date? A new video leaked specs of the upcoming device, which is thinner than the iPad Mini 3 and without the mute/lock switch in place of a microphone. The video claimed that the next device in the iPad Mini series will closely resemble the look of iPad Air 2.
Based on the images and videos posted on Nowhereelse.fr, the iPad Mini 4 will have a tweaked design that is similar to that of iPad Air 2. Some of the design cues taken from the said device include the larger cutouts of speaker grills aligned in a single row, the thinner aluminum case, and the replacement of mute/lock switch for a microphone.
The slimmer iPad Mini 4 is said to also have a 64-bit A8X processor to allow multi-tasking at the best possible speed without running the risk of crashing. Its screen will be a 7.9-inch display screen with 2GB RAM. Other rumored specs include the 802.11ac Wi-Fi support, which according to a report is "up to 1733 mbps of wireless Internet connection that can work on a 5 GHz frequency band".
The plan specs upgrade for the iPad Mini 4 is timely considering that its predecessor has no other significant specs boosts, except for the Touch ID. The addition of gold packaging in color options is also considered a minimal change in the design department. There are also the impressive specs boosts from rival brands that Apple can only compete with by producing better version of the iPad Mini 3. That's not to mention that other brands are offering equally performing devices at a lower price.
If the leaked specs of the iPad Mini 4 provide some hints about the device's features, its release date and price is something that supporters will have to watch out for next. According to Mac World, the device could have an October or November release based on Apple's release cycle for this product. In terms of price, The Inquisitr noted that it could be less than the price of the iPad Mini 3.
