Dreading to say goodbye from the music industry, American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe have added 21 more North American dates in addition to the current farewell concerts. The new shows, which are scheduled between October and December, will include smaller markets like Little Rock, Arkansas and Lincoln, Nebraska as well as Calgary and Saskatoon in Canada. Arenas were also added until reaching "The Final Tour" stage at Staples Center in Los Angeles. After the final show, bassist and co-founder Nikki Sixx says he will not be retiring and has some plans for the future.
"The Final Tour" might be the last, but the band's stage elements are still on the way and in fact, drummer Tommy Lee's "insane drum rig" will still be part of the show. An addition will also be a part of the stage elements, the levitating platform called the "Crue's Nest," which will lift the band along with the part of the crowd during the occasional final song. "We always want to try to find a way to involve our fans, so why not take them for a ride with us?" Sixx says.
The tour, which kicked off last July, has already grossed more than $45 million. There have also been some speculations that after the band's final show at the Staples Center, they will be doing a show in Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. However, Sixx tells Rolling Stone Australia, "I don't know. By the time we get off stage and hang out it will be about 2 o'clock in the morning. Do you want to drive into Hollywood, get there about 4, play at 5am?"
After The "The Final Tour," Now What?
After playing the band's last notes, Nikki Sixx will not be unoccupied with his other band Sixx: AM. The bassist also says on Twitter that he's working for a writing session with the Australian pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer. "Congrats @5sos on your award Nice Crüe shirt too.See yah next week for some lyric writing.@iHeartRadio #iHeartAwards," he wrote.
The rest of the band member will have their own ways. Guitarist Mick Mars will be going solo with his debut album as well as a memoir, while lead vocalist Vince Neil will also pursue the same career as Mars. Tommy Lee's plans have not yet been revealed but he told Newsday that he has been writing.
Do you agree that the band should have their final shows or do you want them to stay together? Will you miss them after their final show? Are you rooting for Nikki Sixx's collaboration with 5 Seconds of Summer as well as Mick Mars and Vince Neil's solo careers? Your thoughts on the comments section!
