Four-time Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke recently gave Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" fans something to warmed themselves up with even more. The 44-year-old actor in an interview for his upcoming Drone-inspired film "Good Kill", wasn't spared the inquiry of a possible sequel for the coming-of-age magnum opus.
"No. I feel that Boyhood was so unique and the reason why it works is because it actually does have a beginning, middle and end. All of us Americans understand the grid of 1st through 12th grade. And it's the one time in our life when we're all on the same grid, and then high school ends and we're shotgun blast into our lives," Hawke gave a satiated explanation in Collider.
However, the actor added that,"I think Rick is open to anything, so he's kind of misleading you to say that. He'd think about doing anything."
"Boyhood" was a 12-year spanning film that earnestly chronicled the life of a child and everyone around him as he grows up. The film generated quite an earning in the box office and was universally acclaimed by critics.
Linklater in February this year, already gave a promising hint that a sequel might happen. His cult film, Before Sunrise in 1995 managed to romantically ran for two more sequels with 2004's Before Sunset and 2013's Before Midnight. The director is currently working on a "spiritual sequel" entitled "That's What I'm Talking About" which will focus more on the university life of its primary characters.
In related news, Hawke's co-star in Good Kill January Jones, admitted that she has a "crush" on her co-star that ran like "forever" since he saw him in "White Fang". Jones who has a three-year-old son named Xander has long kept it mum about the true identity of the kid's biological father.
