With almost every character rebooted in the X-Men franchise starting in the First Class film, will there be a new Rogue in X-Men: Apocalypse, or will Anna Paquin be back? Apparently not as her character will not be part of the team yet.
Every X-Men fan knows how badass Rogue is, and how she is an integral part of Professor X's team of mutants. But her character in the first three X-Men movies was somewhat disappointing as the films depicted her as the shy, unsure teenager. Her full powers were not yet showcased and she spent most of her screen time carrying so much emotional baggage. Plus, her romance with Bobby Drake/Iceman was given much attention when in the comic books and animated series, it was with Remy LeBeau/Gambit she had a bigger story arc.
Anna Paquin, who played Rogue in the three X-Men films, agrees and was reported to have said that she'd gladly grab the opportunity to play Rogue again in future films of the franchise, but this time as the more mature version. Fans of the comic book and the animated series know how powerful Rogue is and she is one of the more formidable mutants of Professor X's team. Paquin stated that she would like to play a version of Rogue that has already acquired the powers shown in the comic books - flight, super strength, among others.
This was confirmed when a fan asked Paquin about it in Twitter where she answered "I want to be badass rogue not shy teen rogue."
Although we won't be expecting to see Rogue in X-Men: Apocalypse (she would still be a toddler in the timeline of the Apocalypse events), it is rumored that she might appear in the upcoming Gambit film with Channing Tatum in 2016.
Nevertheless, X-Men: Apocalypse is coming to theaters on May 27, 2016, Rogue of no Rogue.
