The "Green Lantern" movie reboot is scheduled to be released on June 19, 2020 but Tyrese Gibson is already getting busy campaigning in social media for him to be casted for John Stewart's role. The "Furious 7" main cast is one of the actors eyeing for the black Green Lantern role slated for a standalone movie under Warner Brothers and DC.
Tyrese Gibson posted a fan-made picture of him wearing the green suit and mask of the Green Lantern. The picture instantly made rounds online and created a notion that the "Furious 7" actor is starting out an online media campaign for him to land on the role.
Gibson eventually reacted against the allegations and said, "I don't need to 'campaign' for anything. I took the Oath and I'm ready to suit up as John Stewart IF it lands this way..... Great seeds have been planted at Warner Bros., they know I'm very excited about the possibilities."
Nothing is confirmed for the movie as of the moment and the considerations of a Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern is still there. Chris Pine on the other hand is one of the top actors rumored for the role in the event that Warner goes for a Hal Jordan led plot. But as of the moment, a black "Green Lantern" is most likely happening.
Another "universe crossover" is also rumored to most likely happen between the Star Trek and "Green Lantern" universe. DC Entertainment has joined forces with IDW Publishing in the creation of the "Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War," a special 6-part event scheduled for July 2015.
"We've looked forward to bringing these two iconic universes together for a long time. Star Trek and Green Lantern both share so many of the same science-fiction adventure themes and ideals, that a galaxy-spanning crossover like this is simply ... logical." As announced by Greg Goldstein, IDW President.
Does this collaboration open up possibilities of a potential crossover in the movies as well?
No official announcements are released for the cast and plot of the movie reboot "Green Lantern." The only thing certain for the movie is a June 19, 2020 release in cinemas.
