“Ghost in the Shell” Live-Action Movie Update: Lead star Scarlett Johansson spills plot? Production all set for 2016

The "Ghost in the Shell" live action movie will feature Scarlett Johansson as the lead star of the cyberpunk manga. Johansson recently revealed the filming schedule of the upcoming live-action film slated this coming 2016.

Two decades has passed since the "Ghost in the Shell" anime movie was released in cinemas. This 2015, Scarlett Johansson is confirmed to be leading the role in the movie adaptation of the manga. The actress also revealed that the movie is expected to being filmed early next year.

Scalett Johansson reveals a couple of details about the upcoming film but she's silent on its potential plot. "It's happening." The actress confirmed during a press tour for the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" movie where she stars as the Black Widow. "It [Ghost in Shell] will be shooting the beginning of next year, so I think we start production January or February and it's me and Rupert [Sanders]; and that's all I know." Johansson continued.

The movie will be based on the original manga "Ghost in Shell" created by Masamune Shirow's that features an augmentic-cybermatic human named Major Kusanagi, to be played by Johansson. The movie was supposed to be released earlier but was later on pushed to a later date by Dreamworks. Margot Robbie was the first actress to be linked for the role but was later on casted in the movie "Suicide Squad" instead.

Plot of the upcoming film remains to be a secret but fans are assuming that the production will go after a modern version of the 1995 movie. Fans of the series are quite worried whether Scarlett Johansson will still manage to pull of the requirements for the lead role of the story with several Marvel movies in her belt as well as a sequel for the movie "Lucy" Motherhood is also considered as another challenge for her upcoming role in the "Ghost in Shell" movie.

At the very least, the filming of the "Ghost in Shell" movie is already confirmed this coming 2016 and has already nailed a release date by April 14, 2017.
