Those-in-the-know are now saying that the eagerly anticipated iPad "Mini" will be released on Nov. 2.
The date is "all but written in stone," according to the SpaceLab Web site. TechCrunch.com and a number of others are on board with the estimated date for the device to ship and hit stores, including Bloomberg News and Reuters.
The thinking is that the "Mini" will be released nine days following its debut at an invitation-only media event in San Jose, California on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Although the media event is definite, Apple is being coy about its actual purpose, stating in the invitation only, "We've got a little more to show you." SpaceLab speculated that other Apple products could be launched, such as a new version of the iPad, or enhanced iBooks.
GottaBeMoblie.com notes, "Apple also likes to release its products on Friday and November 2nd is, of course, a Friday."
SpaceLab acknowledges, "It's still unclear what the actual timetable will be."
According to AppleInsider.com, the tablet will start at $249 for a Wi-Fi only 8-GB model, as opposed to the earlier guess of $199, so the price of the device would match the Amazon Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble's Nook Color.
Reports of the size of the device's screen vary but it's generally safe to say it will be between 7 and 8 inches.
Apple has yet to confirm the product's existence but leaks from reliable sources make it a pretty sure bet.
