In his latest...challenge? Donald Trump promised a "very big" announcement Wednesday morning but the result was...not so big. In fact, it has made the billionaire something of a laughing stock even among members of his own party.
'The Donald' offered to pay $5 million to a charity of President Barack Obama's choice if the President releases his complete passport and college applications and records. That is, to Trump's satisfaction.
The offer was made via a YouTube video, through Trump's Twitter account.
Perhaps he felt emboldened by his role getting the President to release his long form birth certificate in April 2011. Trump was insisting that the President was born in Kenya because his father was from Kenya. One can guess that he's still not quite satisfied.
"A lot of people want to see his college transcripts," Trump said in an interview with CNBC at the time, as reported by The Huffington Post. "They're not looking at his marks, his grades. ... They want to see, what does he say about place of birth. Now, those transcripts have disappeared, nobody seems to be able to get them."
In an appearance on the Jay Leno show Wednesday night Obama sent gales of laughter through the audience with his response to Leno's question about Trump's birthplace preoccupation. "It all started when we were growing up together in Kenya," Obama said to wild applause.
A reporter for The Guardian contacted Trump's office on Wednesday to ask for Trump's college transcripts and passport records, to which an executive at the company responded that the newspaper's request was "stupid," since Trump isn't running for president, The HP reported.
The offer expires 5PM, Oct. 31.
