Suits returns with the season 5 instalment in this June, confirms the USA Network. New professional and personal conflicts are introduced to the series as Harvey Specter lives an office without Donna while Mike and Rachel are officially engaged.
The end of season 4 sees Donna bids Harvey goodbye after a good decade of being his secretary and reveals she could no longer hide her feelings for the closer. Donna's goodbye leads Harvey to seek the help of the psychiatrist, Dr. Agard to help him cope with the "loss". A source reports new casting for of a woman in her late thirties to early sixties for Suits to play the strong character whom many expects that romantic developments ensue.
The romantic relation between Harvey and Donna is one major pivotal storyline in the series. Since the first season of Suits, Donna harbours emotions towards his boss who seems to demonstrate otherwise. In the last season, Harvey struggles with his feelings for Donna as he shows romantic inclinations but refuses to put it to words.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Suits creator, Aaron Korsh clarifies Donna move to being Louis' secretary could make or break her relations with Harvey.
"Donna is leaving Harvey in one major sense, she's like, 'I need to take care of myself.' Her doing that could lay the foundation for them ultimately getting together, or it could lay the foundation for her ultimately moving on and getting with someone else." Korsh metions.
Moreover, Donna may have plans on her own to make the city's top corporate lawyer to miss and ultimately fall for her, by giving him some space.
"However if she was really fully ready to move on, she wouldn't have gone to work for someone within the firm, she would have left. So subconsciously I don't think she's ready to move on and maybe she is hoping this gets Harvey to change his mind or see her in a certain way." Korsh adds.
Meanwhile, Mike and Rachel's engagement is another main underline of season 5 but troubles can split the two apart. Rachel's father, also a lawyer, is involved in a case with Mike that could impact the two in a negative way. It becomes clear from what Korsh tells Yahoo TV that no wedding bells greet the couple for the upcoming season 5.
"You know, sometimes you get engaged, and it takes a year to plan a wedding and then you have a wedding. So I don't think every episode is going to be about their nuptials," he said. "but it does exist. We don't ignore it."
