The Vampire Diaries fans are saddened by news that Nina Dobrev has bid adieu to the long-running show, fueling rumors of a Nina Dobrev-Nikki Reed feud. Nikki, who played Rosalie in "The Twilight Saga," is the fiancée of Ian Somerhalder, while Nina is his ex-girlfriend.
For the past several months, The Vampire Diaries producers had been wary of possible tension or uneasiness on the part of Nina Dobrev over Ian and Nikki's public display of affection reportedly going on at the set of the popular tv series. Nina Dobrev-Ian Somerhalder loyal fans have been vocal about their disdain over the fact that Ian has found a new love.
Nina, for her part, has stated that her reasons for leaving the show are to obtain some rest, reclaim some of her freedom, and take advantage of other opportunities.
After more than six years of working together , The Vampire Diaries' cast members and crew have become quite close, so it's going to be heart-rending to see Nina go. Yet well-meaning cast & crew wish her well as she sets her eyes on new projects.
Meantime, even as tv insiders have kept linking Nina Dobrev's decision to exit The Vampire Diaries to her discomfort in seeing co-star Ian with the new object of his affection, 26-year-old Nikki reportedly stated that she hasn't done anything wrong. Well, as they say, all's fair in love and war. The feelings of betrayal between friends or between two people who used to have a relationship are expected to blow over.
In the meantime, The Vampire Diaries creative team may have to work double time to fill in the void left by Nina's departure. Will the writers be able to pull it off?
Nina's exit has both an upside and a downside.
