The same number of extraordinary movies as Ridley Scott has made in a wide assortment of kinds, he will apparently be always known for his commitments to sci-fi. Truth be told, the gentleman did make both Alien and Blade Runner, irrefutably two of the most powerful and notorious science fiction stories ever told in film and now here comes The Martian.
In the not so distant future, the producer will at the end of the day attempt and leave a permanent check on the class with the arrival of The Martian - an adjustment of the book of the same name by Andy Wier.
Then, The Martian creator Andy Weir imparted the first-ever snap of Matt Damon as space traveler Mark Watney on the Jordan set of Ridley Scott's film adjustment.
In it, the 44-year-old Oscar winner can be seen in costume on the red dunes of Wadi Rum (doubling for Mars) as a six-wheeled rover is parked in the background. The bulk of the film takes place in 2035 on the planet's Acidalia Planitia where Watney has been marooned following an emergency evacuation.
The 38-year-old Oscar nominee has called the 77-year-old filmmaker 'a gem of a human being.' 'I get to be an astronaut, with the astronaut suit,' the Interstellar star told MailOnline in February. 'My character's not in the whole movie - it's Matt's movie. But my character's still a bad-ass and she's pretty cool. She gets to go to space, and I did zero-gravity training.'
Working in Budapest with Chastain were her Ares 3 crew - Michael Peña, Sebastian Stan, and Aksel Hennie. The foursome practiced 'indoor skydiving' while inside the gravity-defying wind tunnel at SkyWard.
Chicago-born Michael Peña - who plays Major Rick Martinez - filmed the impressive freefall simulator on his cell phone. Norwegian-born Aksel - who plays astronaut Alex Vogel - took a selfie while shooting at Korda Studios in the Hungarian town of Etyek.
The Martian is set to be released on November 25, 2015 on global theatres.
