A fake news saying that Fox TV show Empire season 2 has been cancelled is spreading online. The fake report originated from New York Times News, a rumor parody and humorous publication.
The fake news read: "It appears 'Empire' won't be around for another season like producers planned. Allegedly the show is cancelled until further notice. The news comes as a shocker seeing how Fox gross its highest views in years."
The satirical report had created fake statement as well : "We would like to thank everyone who supported the show last season. We are keeping hope alive that Lee Daniels works this out with Fox so we can get back to filming one of the biggest shows of all time."
On the other hand, the story is not true and US singer/actor Jussie Smollett verified on Twitter that it was certainly a hoax. Many Twitter users showed their frustrations over the website's hoax story.
Last month, the show concluded its season 1 and broke all previous records, rating on the average of 16.7 million viewers. The finale was crazier than what the viewers expected. It had earlier seen on the hit series. Everything from guest stars to thrilling murders to jaw dropping changes and misdiagnoses. It has two back to back episodes.
In the finale, Lucious Lyon looks hellbent on reinforcing his derogatory evaluation of his life and specifically, his parenting style which made his former wife Cookie say: everything he touches, he destroys, including his sons. The last episode of season 1 concluded Lucious behind bars, ensuring that he will be back. There are reports that he will be able to get out of jail and be back in the second season. It was previously announced that Empire Season 2 will return as early as September 2015.
