‘Star Wars’ Episode 7 Update: ‘The Force Awakens’ among Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron; Kylo Ren sets his revenge?

By

The most anticipated movie of the year, Star Wars Epicsode 7: The Force Awakens recently released its trailer and fans from all over are pretty hyped. After years of sequels and prequels, the latest installment of the Star Wars franchise finally has a release date, new characters, plus more details have also been confirmed.

The movie is directed by action film veteran J. J. Abrams. The film's cast is a combination of both old and new as the story has now moved forward from the last episode of the original trilogy. Three new characters are introduced: Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). During the Star Wars celebration panel at Anaheim, director J.J. Abrams and the cast (both old and new) answered queries from fans and the media.

It can be assumed that Finn is a storm trooper, judging by his uniform in the latest trailer that Disney and Lucasfilm released. Rey is confirmed to be a scavenger from the planet Jakku. While Poe Dameron is described as a hotshot X- Wing pilot on a mission. Joining the new cast are the older versions of Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), and princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). Oh, and Chewbacca.

Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens also has a new robot that will surely steal the hearts of the fans. The newest droid is BB-8, is a cute little rolling ball droid that has already stolen the scenes where it appeared in the trailer.

As Darth Vader was defeated and died at the end of the original trilogy, we won't be seeing the familiar mask in this Star Wars installment. The bad guy here instead is Kylo Ren, wielding the crossguard lightsaber - the very same one that the Sith villain used after the Battle of Endor. Will Kylo take revenge on the Jedis for defeating his predecessors in the previous Star Wars movie installment?

With a mix of old and new characters and the story picking up years after the end of the original trilogy, Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens is highly anticipated by the franchise fans the world over. Set for a December 18, 2015 release, fans will just have to wait and see for more details in the coming months.
