After two decades of hiatus, "Dragon Ball Super" of the Dragon Ball Z franchise returns to the television screen not as a cartoon but as a live-action television series. The TV series to be aired in Fuji TV airs this July and has the original creator, Akira Toriyama working behind the scenes. The plot of the TV series is rumored to be featuring the events after the successful defeat of Majin Buu.
Akira Toriyama will reunite together with the rest of the cast and the much-loved anime series "Dragon Ball Z" as "Dragon Ball Super" returns on Japanese television screens this July on Fuji TV. The manga written and drawn by Akira Toriyama goes as far as 1984 and focuses on Goku, a boy from outer space whose life and journey to adult hood included a series of several out of this world villains wanting to conquer and destroy planet Earth. The manga series eventually evolved into an animated series, several movies action figures as well as video games. In short, the manga series became a worldwide sensation.
The live-action television series "Dragon Ball Super", ready to be released this July is rumored to feature a plot evolving the events that happened after the Majin Buu saga. Thus it already excludes Majin Buu as the potential villain in the upcoming film. Freiza is expected to grace the upcoming TV series as a villain or Majin Buu, a fierce and bolder version of the plump and pink character might also return.
The TV series will be available in Japan and a US release is also expected. Unfortunately, formal announcements of a US release remains to be unavailable. "Having loved Dragon Ball since childhood, it is very exciting to be a part of this project," Fuji Television producer Osamu Nozaki said in a press release from Toei. The iconic manga series will definitely bring a different kind of entertainment to the new generation of children today.
The "Dragon Ball Super" is predicted to be included in the several successful franchises of the manga series. The movie "Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu No F" recently released in cinemas showed how big and marketable the franchise is. With 74 countries lining up to see the movie, the live-action TV series adaptation, with Akira Toriyama behind the production will most likely be successful as well. Majin Buu and Freiza are speculated to grace the TV series as the main villains for the show.
