'Final Fantasy XV' demo set to be updated even amidst uncertain plans when it comes to release

With the actual release date of "Final Fantasy XV" still largely in limbo, Square Enix has resorted to giving fans an updated version of the demo for the game, known as "Episode Duscae," but it seems as though even that may not be coming out at all.

The update is tentatively known as "Episode Duscae 2.0," and it promises to carry some of the suggested changes and fixes which were made thanks in part to the feedback Square Enix received from the people who played it.

Some of the fixes expected to be part of version 2.0 include changes being made to the Active Cross Battle system, the addition of attacks and other moves, as well as fixes concerning targeting and the in-game camera, according to IGN.

According to the game's director, Hajime Tabata, the updated version will also allow players to complete quests wherein they are paired up with one or more characters. This change is expected to affect some of the conversations that take place inside the game.

The original demo's problematic frame rate is also expected to be addressed in the updated demo. Even with all the changes planned for the updated demo, and Square Enix actually actively working to complete it, there still exists a chance that version 2.0 may not see the light of day.

Tabata said the uncertainty about update 2.0 being released stems mainly from the fact that there is no precedent for actually applying patches to demos in the past, so "Episode Duscae 2.0" would be breaking new ground in that regard.

The first version of "Episode Duscae" was originally released along with the Day One editions of "Final Fantasy Type-0 HD," according to Gamespot.

For now, "Final Fantasy XV" remains without an official release date, but more news on the matter could be coming during Square Enix's E3 press conference to be held in June, according to Eurogamer.
